) - Position the vehicle on a lift.

Before proceeding with the operation of removing the automatic transmission system wiring, position the gear lever in "N"

- Open the boot, remove the cover on the left hand side and disconnect the negative battery lead. See in Op. 7040D50 ENGINE COMPARTMENT UPPER SOUND INSULATION SHIELD - R.R. See in Op. 1016A40 Ignition COIL COVER on cylinder head - R.R. See in Op. 1048A21 AIR INLET HOSE FROM INTAKE TO FILTER - R.R. See in Op. 1048A23 Cold AIR INTAKE for air filter - R.R. See in Op. 1048A28 vacuum air circuit resonator pipe - r+r See in Op. 1048A48 HOSE BETWEEN RESONATOR AND THROTTLE CASING - R.R. See in Op. 1048A10 COMPLETE AIR FILTER -R.R.- Raise the vehicle on the lift. See in Op. 7055B42 FRONT WHEEL ARCH LINER (one), left or right - R.R.- Left side See in Op. 7055B54 PROTECTION/GUARD under engine - R.R.- Position a container to collect the automatic transmission fluid.1. Undo the plug and drain the transmission fluid

1. Undo the lower bolts (1a) fixing the solenoid valve unit cover (1b).

- Lower the vehicle1. Release the air conditioning system pipe (1b) from the retaining clips (1a)2. Undo the upper bolts (2a) fixing the solenoid valve unit cover (2b) and remove it taking care not to damage the actual cover and the gearbox casing.

1. Disconnect the gear selection solenoid valve unit connectors.

1. Undo the bolt (1a) fixing the retaining bracket and remove the oil temperature sensor (1b).

Proceed carefully to avoid damaging the electrical connection

- Lower the vehicle1. Undo the right bolt (1a) fixing the gear engagement selector (1b).

1. Release the wiring (1a) from the retaining bracket and release the cable loom (1b) complete with wiring.2. Open the band (2a) and release the wiring on the gearbox bowden cable mounting bracket, then disconnect the gearbox input speed sensor connector (2b).

1. Open the retaining band and disconnect the three gearbox main wiring connectors.

1. Disconnect the gearbox output speed sensor connector.

1. Remove the wiring assembly.

Refitting ( Removing

) - Position the wiring.- Connect the connector for the gearbox output speed sensor

- Connect the three main gearbox wiring connectors, then close the band.- Connect the gearbox output speed sensor connector, then close the band and secure the wiring to the gearbox bowden cable mounting bracket.

- Position the gearbox wiring and fit the cable duct in its housing- Tighten the right bolt fixing the gear engagement selector.1. Position the temperature sensor (1a) and secure it using the retaining bracket (1b) tightening the fixing bolt (1c) to the recommended torque.

- Connect the gear selection solenoid valve unit connectors.

- Clean any residues of sealant from the contact surfaces of the automatic transmission solenoid valve unit cover.- Apply a bead of suitable silicon sealant 1.0 - 1.5 mm thick along the edge of the solenoid valve unit cover, removing any excess from inside the actual cover.

Take care not to foul the contact surfaces between the cover and the gearbox casing with oil.

1. Place the gear selector solenoid valve unit cover back in its housing and secure it tightening the bolts to the recommended torque.
