74477 - 0010T20 Engine REFRIGERANT FLUID - Change (Automatic Transmission )

- Procedure for draining the system.- Position the vehicle on the lift.    See in Op. 7040D50 ENGINE COMPARTMENT UPPER SOUND INSULATION SHIELD - R.R.- Raise the lift.- With the engine cold, remove the engine coolant reservoir plug.- Position a suitable container for collecting the fluid under the vehicle.- Press the lower radiator hose fastening tabs and release the hose from the connector on the radiator in order to drain the coolant.- Instructions for refilling the system.1. Reconnect the lower radiator hose and fasten it by pushing the rapid connector until the clip engages.2. Open the bleed screw (2a) on the radiator and the bleed screw (2b) on the heater supply hose.- Slowly introduce coolant via the filler located on the expansion tank until it comes out of the bleed screw on the radiator outlet hose.- Then close the bleed screw on the radiator.- Continue with the refilling until coolant comes out of the bleed opening on the heater supply hose, then close the screw on the actual bleed opening.
Facilitate the removal of the remaining air by repeatedly squeezing the engine/radiator hose.
- Continue refilling until the coolant in the reservoir is at the level of the MAX notch on the tank.3. Tighten the engine coolant reservoir cap.
- Start up the engine and let it idle for about 2 minutes.- Check that the air conditioning system is switched off.- Then carry out gradual, periodic (every 30 secs.) acceleration until the engine speed is around 3/4 of maximum power rpm.- This operation should be carried out so that the radiator fan cuts in.- After the fan cuts in, keep the engine idling for a further 4 minutes.- Make sure that hot air comes out of the passenger compartment vents to confirm that the coolant is circulating.- Then switch off the engine and leave it to cool down.- After having let the engine cool down, check the level of the fluid in the tank, topping it up, if necessary, until it reaches the MAX reference. At the end of this operation, make sure that at least the same amount of water collected after the circuit was drained has been introduced otherwise repeat the heating operation to allow all of the air to be removed from the circuit and then introduce the remaining coolant.
