72403 - D03 ENGINE NOT RUNNING SMOOTHLY - JUDDERING

STEPOPERATIONS TO BE CARRIED OUTTEST RESULTS
0PRELIMINARY CHECKSALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
First, check:

  • condition of the air filter;
  • battery correctly fastened to earth; (Wiring Diagram ) E1010 POWER SUPPLY
Move on to Step 1. Filter element dirty, damaged or not correctly fitted1. Replace or restore the correct filter element fitting    See in Op. 1048A14 air cleaner filtering element - replace.
2. Fastening to earth incofrect2. Restore wiring
1CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
Connect the diagnostic test equipment (Examiner or other instruments) to the tester input.Check:

  • that there are no faults in the engine management control unit;
  • parameter plausibility
Move on to Step 1. "Fuel system" error detected1. Continue following the instructions in Table Z050
2. "Upstream Lambda sensor" error detected2. Continue following the instructions in Table Z056
3. Another error detected in the control unit3. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
4. Parameter not consistent4. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
2ROAD TEST USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
Carry out a road test reproducing the conditions in which the fault occurs, keeping the diagnostic equipment connected.Check:

  • that there are no faults in the engine management control unit;
  • parameter plausibility
Move on to Step 1. "Fuel system" error detected1. Continue following the instructions in Table Z050
2. "Upstream Lambda sensor" error detected2. Continue following the instructions in Table Z056
3. The sudden onset of another error in the control unit is detected3. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
4. Parameter not consistent4. Continue following the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
3FUEL PRESSURE CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
Check the fuel supply pressure, if necessary on the road (to reproduce the conditions in which the problem occurs)     See in Op. 0510C10 FUEL SYSTEM - Check DELIVERY PRESSUREMove on to Step 1. Pressure not correct: obstructions in the fuel supply pipe1. Remove the obstructions in the fuel pipe, replace it if necesary
2. Pressure not correct: petrol pump damaged2. Replace the petrol pump assembly    See in Op. 1040A70 SUBMERGED PUMP ASSEMBLY complete with level gauge - R.R.
4AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM CHECKALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
Road test the vehicle, checking that the irregular behaviour does not occur when the air conditioning is switched on or offMove on to Step Fault only present with the air conditioning switched on Continue following the instructions in Table L010
5CHECK ON CORRECT OPERATIONALL OKPROBLEMS ENCOUNTEREDACTION
Check that the fault is no longer presentFault persists control unit defectiveReplace the control unit    See in Op. 1056B52 Air flow meter ELECTRONIC MODULE - R.R.
