93705 - 1056B81 CARRYING OUT SELF-LEARNING PROCEDURE FOR BASIC ELECTRONIC INJECTION/IGNITION (SINGLE) CONTROL UNIT

- Below is a description of the manual procedure and the procedure using the diagnostic equipment for the electronic injection/ignition control unit self-learning.
Carry out the following operations, the first time the vehicle is started up, each time the throttle casing or the engine management control unit is replaced.
Do not press the accelerator pedal, the brake pedal or the clutch pedal during this procedure, from the moment the instrument panel is supplied to the end of the learning procedure.
- Procedure with diagnostic equipment.- Make sure that the ignition key is in the OFF position.- Connect the equipment to the diagnostic socket and place the knob in position 3.

- Connect the Examiner diagnostic equipment.- Turn the ignition key to the ON position (engine switched off).- Wait for the throttle casing check to be carried out, until the positive result of the learning procedure is confirmed on the diagnostic equipment.- Turn the ignition key to the OFF position.- Using the Examiner, check that the idle self-learning procedure has been correctly completed (THROTTLE LOWER END OF TRAVEL POSITION SELF-LEARNING - Completed).
If the self-learning procedure is not correct, turn the ignition key to the OFF position and repeat the procedure described above. If the problems persist, check that the diagnostic cable is correctly connected and that the equipment is working properly.
- Manual procedure.- Turn the ignition key to the ON position (engine switched off).- Wait for 60 seconds, the time required for the control unit to check the spring inside the throttle casing and the minimum/maximum throttle angle positions.- Turn the ignition key to the OFF position.- Wait for 10 seconds, the time required for the control unit to record the values learnt in the Eprom.
After having carried out the self-learning procedure, the supply to the engine management control unit can be removed (battery disconnected), if necessary, without losing the data recorded.
