841008234 - E7010 LANCIA CODE DESCRIPTION

Description

To increase protection against theft attempts, an engine immobilizer system known as the LANCIA CODE is used. The keys are equipped with an electronic transponder which, during starting, transmits a coded signal to the Body Computer which, if it recognizes the transponder, sends the code to the other functions involved in the protection of the vehicle: alarm and immobilizer.    See E7015 ALARMThe Body Computer acts as a control unit in the management of the engine starting. After the key-on (+15) the engine management control unit sends a code request to the Body Computer which, if the answer is positive, enables the starting of the engine and switches off the warning light in the instrument panel which has remained on during the entire period described. If the information protocol between the two control units does not have a positive result, the instrument panel should be notified of the negative outcome and it will activate the flashing of the special warning light and show the appropriate message on the display. The communication between the Body Computer and the engine management control unit takes place by default on the CAN; if the latter is faulty, then the engine management control unit recovery strategy requests codes from the Body Computer (and responds) via the W serial line; if there are also problems with the W line, at the end of the retransmission attempts, the engine management control unit moves to the recovery stage with the accelerator pedal or the diagnostic equipment. To activate this recovery procedure (to be repeated at each successive key-on) it is necessary to be in possession of the CODE CARD or to know the 5 digit code to be entered (using the diagnostic equipment) or to be introduced using the accelerator pedal. If the code is correct, the engine management control unit will enable the starting of the engine.
