939003545 - 7010 PASSENGER COMPARTMENT REAR SIDE DOORS

CONTROLS

The buttons for opening/closing the window are located on the rear door panel trim.

OPERATION

All the functions described here are managed by the two door control units and the luggage compartment control unit (for the rear doors)    See descriptions 5505 INSTRUMENT/GAUGE ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS

Door locking / unlocking

The simultaneous operation of the four door locks takes place via:

  • - TEG the remote control;
  • - the locking/unlocking button in the centre console.
The TEG remote has 3 buttons which allow the operation of the central locking system: a button for unlocking the doors, one for locking the vehicle and one for releasing the boot.    See descriptions 5520 ENGINE STARTING
The fuel flap is also locked/unlocked at the same time as the doors, controlled by the same driver''s door logic.
If the remote control fails, insert the metal insert (inside the key) in the lock in the driver''s door and turn it.With the central locking on, pulling the interior opening lever for one of the doors causes the closure for all the doors to be released. If there is no electrical power supply the doors can be locked manually
The locks have an additional motor that carries out the dead lock function which allows the interior door opening handles to be mechanically disconnected so that it is no longer possible to open the door from the inside (for example, after having broken the glass in a theft attempt); the dead lock function also inhibits the operation of the door locking/unlocking buttons in the dashboard.The dead lock function is switched on at the time the doors are locked or by pressing the remote control twice.

The LED in the driver''s door produces the following signals:

  • Locking the locks: the LED lights up for 3 seconds. If some of the doors or the boot are not properly shut at the time when the locks are locked, the LED flashes at 3 Hz for 3 seconds;
  • Dead lock activation: the LED flashes twice for 0.5 seconds;
  • Unlocking the locks: the LED goes out.
The doors are automatically unlocked if the inertia switch is operated: the instrument panel receives a signal from the switch, lights up the appropriate warning light and notifies the Body Computer via the CAN.Possible adjustmentsIt is possible, using the special setup in the instrument panel, to select whether to unlock all the doors or only the driver''s front door, whilst all the other doors and the boot remain locked.It is possible to enable/disable the locking of the doors above a certain speed threshold (20 km/h) using the special setup in the instrument panel: in this case the Body Computer implements the locking of the doors when this threshold is exceeded.When the speed returns below this level, the doors and the boot remain locked; later on, when one of the doors is opened, the function is re-enabled and, if the threshold is exceeded, the doors are locked once again.The boot unlocking operating mode can be selected still using the special setup in the instrument panel:- assisted boot unlocking: the tailgate is considered as a fifth door to all intents and purposes;- indepedent boot unlocking: the boot is locked when the doors are locked, whilst it can be unlocked independently of the unlocking of the doors.

Electric rear windows

The electric windows in the rear doors are activated using the switches in the actual doors and the driver''s front door.

Automatic operation takes place as follows:

  • if the button is pressed is between 60 and 300 milliseconds, operation is manual. the glass goes up/down only with the key pressed;
  • f the key is pressed for longer than 300 milliseconds, operation is automatic: even if the button is released, the glass continues to move up/down until the end of travel position is reached or until the intervention of the anti-crush safety system (if fitted);
  • pressing the button again whilst the window is moving stops it in the position it is in;
  • if the button is pressed for less than 60 milliseconds, this is ignored (it is treated as an accidental knock).
The luggage compartment junction unit also manages the anti-crush safety function: it acquires information concerning the possible presence of an obstacle whilst the glass is closing: under these circumstances the control unit immediately interrupts the travel of the window and reverses it to the lower end of travel position.
If a failure is detected in the system or if the anti-crush safety function is activated 3 times in the space of 1 minute or if there is a failure, the system automatically enters into recovery mode (self-protection).This condition is evident from the window closing by being raised in stages.

If this happens the system restoral procedure must be carried out as follows:

  • open the windows;
  • extract the key (TEG) from the starting device and then insert it again
The driver''s front door control unit manages the locking of the rear controls (protection) when the special LOCK button is pressed: the locking status is indicated by an LED in the back of the actual button lighting up and the rear control buttons are not lit up. The electric windows cannot be operated using any of the buttons when the lock function is activated.

Child-locks

The rear doors are fitted with a locking device that prevents them from being opened from the inside.The device can only be switched on/off (using the metal insert in the key) with the doors open.
