939010957 - INTRODUCTION - ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT

WARNINGS

This vehicle is equipped with a starting system known as Smart-Key, whereby the traditional ignition key has been replaced with an electronic key "T.E.G.", (Transmitter for Entry and Go), combined with an electronic key reader and TEG-Reader radio frequency receiver.
Access to the vehicle through radiofrequency recognition of the remote control incorporated into the TEG is entirely the same as what takes place with the traditional remote control incorporated into the key fob.The vehicle is not switched on/started up by inserting the key in the ignition switch (which is no longer present) and turning it, but rather by inserting the TEG in the TEG Reader and activating the START/STOP button. The distribution of the power supply to the vehicle (ignition-controlled INT, INT/A, AVV, etc.) is managed by the steering lock node and takes place in entirely the same way as for models equipped with a traditional key.The following documentation often still uses the expressions Key ON, Key OFF, ignition-operated power supply (INT) or key to MAR, key to STOP, key to AVV. These must be interpreted in accordance with the following summary table:
Key ONTEG inserted in TEG Reader
Key OFFTEG removed from TEG Reader
ignition controlled power supply (INT)TEG inserted into TEG Reader
key on MARTEG inserted in TEG Reader
key on STOPTEG removed from TEG Reader
key on AVVTEG inserted and START/STOP button pressed

PRECAUTIONS

Before working on the electrical system (connectors, electrical components, wiring etc.), always DISCONNECT THE BATTERY.
If the battery is disconnected, the Steering Lock Node remains in the condition (unlocked or locked) that it is in: during workshop operations and repairs, whenever it is necessary to turn the steering wheel with the battery disconnected, leave the TEG inserted when the battery is disconnected. The steering will therefore remain released and free to turn.
