| 1 | Remove the pump from the fuel tank and draw the fuel from the bottom of the tank. Fill a 100 ml glass cylinder with 1 ml graduations with this fuel to the 90 ml level. Add 10 ml of water to reach the 100 ml level and close the cover. Shake the cylinder vigorously for 10-15 seconds, then remove the cover paying attention: some of the alcohol vapours naturally present in the fuel will escape. Close the cover and shake the cylinder again for 10-15 seconds. Leave the cylinder to rest on a horizontal surface for about 5 minutes to allow the liquids to separate | |
| 2 | Check that there is not a liquid layer in the lower part of the cylinder (colloid suspension of water and alcohol) that exceeds a level of 10 ml | Remove the fuel from the tank and clean the actual tank |
| 3 | Draw off 0.5 litres of fuel from the bottom of the tank. Fill a glass container with this fuel. Leave the container to rest on a horizontal surface for about 5 minutes to allow the sedimentation of the particles in suspension. Check that there are no white or light brown crystals (sand) or irregular black particles (rubber) | Remove the fuel from the tank and clean the actual tank |
