	Check that there is no engine oil in the coolant, also check that the exhaust tail pipe is not dirty with oil and check that there are no bluish exhaust fumes	Move on to Step 1	Engine oil in the cooling circuit.	Move on to Step 2.

			Presence of bluish exhaust fumes.	Move on to Step 2.

2	CHECK ENGINE BLOCK SURFACE	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Remove the head (only for 2.2 JTS version0    Op. 1016C10 SINGLE CYLINDER HEAD - R.R. AND REPLACE GASKET (only for 3.2 V6 version)    Op. 1016D10 CYLINDER HEAD – R.R. AND REPLACE GASKETSand check that there are no:- oil deposits on valves;- defects on engine block;- defects on the cylinder head gasket.	Move on to Step 3	Oil deposits on the valves. 	Check the cylinder liners/bores. More specifically:- that there are no deep machining grooves;- that there is no vitrification of the liners/bores;- measure that there is no ovality or wear.	End of diagnosis	Presence of machining grooves.	Grind the cylinder.
			Liners/bores vitrified	Grind the cylinder.
