3233007 - B16 ENGINE STARTS WITH DIFFICULTY'

The engine does not start, especially when cold, or it starts with difficulty and only after repeated attempts. When the key is turned the instruments light up, the starter motor turns, but the engine does not start
Results of the tests
0PRELIMINARY CHECKSAll OKProblems metOperation

Preliminarily check:

  • that there is no water, other fluid or dirt in the fuel tank
  • the seal of the fuel pipes and connectors
  • the condition of the air intake circuit

Fuel pipes damagedRenew or replace the pipes (see Assembly 1040B)
Air intake circuit component damagedReplace the component (see Assembly 1048A)
1CHECK WITH DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTAll OKProblems metOperation
Connect the diagnostic equipment (Examiner or other instruments) to the diagnostic socket

Check:

  • that there are no faults in the engine management control unit
  • plausibility of all the parameters
Continue to Step 2 An error is detected in the control unit Continue according to the instructions for the diagnostic equipment
Lack of dialogue with the control unit Restore the connection between the engine management control unit and the diagnostic connector ( See   E5050  DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT ).
2FUEL PRE-HEATING CHECKAll OKProblems metOperation
Using the diagnostic equipment (Examiner or other iinstruments) carry out the active diagnosis for the fuel pre-heating relay: Continue to Step 3 Connections broken
