125000533 - I05 DIPPED HEADLAMPS NOT WORKING

When the stalk unit collar is operated with the key turned on, the dipped headlamps do not work.
In the case of vehicles with gas discharge headlamps, it is possible that both bulbs and the control units are broken simultaneously. It is fairly improbable that there would be faults in both lamps simultaneously, therefore the possibility of problems with the Body Computer should be considered first. In rare cases there could be simultaneous problems with the bulbs, control units and Body Computer.
Results of the tests
1DIPPED HEADLAMPS RELAY CHECK (POWER CIRCUIT)All OKProblems metOperation
Swap the dipped headlamps relay (in the underdashboard junction unit) with the main beam headlamps relay (in the engine compartment junction unit) and check that the dipped headlamps are working properly after the swapContinue to Step 2The dipped headlamps still do not work even after the swapContinue to Step 3
2REPLACING MAIN BEAM HEADLAMPS RELAY (POWER CIRCUIT)All OKProblems metOperation
Replace the main beam headlamps relay (which, in reality, was the one for the dipped headlamps) and check that the main beam headlamps are working properlyEnd of diagnosis.
3DIPPED HEADLAMPS RELAY POWER SUPPLY CHECK (POWER CIRCUIT)All OKProblems metOperation
Refit the two relays in their original positions. With the ignition ON, check that the dipped headlamps relay is correctly supplied by the battery. Then, connect to the relay power supply from the Body Computer and check that the power supply is sent to the relay when the dipped headlamps are activated. Also check that the electrical connections between the battery and the relay are not faulty See    See E2011 DIPPED HEADLAMPS
Do not connect the relay
Continue to Step 4No supply from batteryRestore the correct supply to the relay. If necessary replace the faulty components (if a fuse is involved, search for the cause of the problem)
