With the dipped headlamps switched on (stable position) or in the flashing mode, when the steering column switch unit lever is operated, the main beam headlamps do not work.
Results of the tests
1MAIN BEAM HEADLAMPS RELAY CHECK (POWER CIRCUIT)All OKProblems metOperation
Swap the main beam headlamps relay (in the engine compartment junction unit) with the horn relay (the middle one in the same row) and check that the main beam headlamps are working properly after the swapContinue to Step 2The main beam headlamps still do not work even after the swapContinue to Step 3
2REPLACING HORN RELAY (POWER CIRCUIT)All OKProblems metOperation
Replace the horn relay (which, in reality, was the one for the main beam headlamps) and check that it is working properlyEnd of diagnosis.
3MAIN BEAM HEADLAMPS POWER SUPPLY CHECK (POWER CIRCUIT)All OKProblems metOperation
Refit the two relays in their original positions. With the ignition ON, check that the main beam headlamps relay is correctly supplied by the battery. Then connect to the relay supply from the Body Computer and check that when the main beam headlamps are activated, the supply is sent to the relay. Also check that the electrical connections between the battery and the relay are not faulty See    See E2012 MAIN BEAM HEADLAMPS
Do not connect the relay
Continue to Step 4No supply from batteryRestore the correct supply to the relay. If necessary replace the faulty components (if a fuse is involved, search for the cause of the problem)

4CHECK WITH DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTAll OKProblems metOperation
Connect the Examiner to the diagnostic socket.

Check:

  • That there are no faults in the Body Computer
  • The operation of the lights through active diagnosis
