When the ignition is turned ON nothing happens. The starter motor does not turn, the instruments do not light up

Check, in order:

  • correct fixing or connection to earth of negative battery terminal
  • correct fixing of positive battery terminal and that all leads are connected
  • no oxidation at the negative battery lead earth point

Cable damagedReplace the cable concerned (see Assembly 5530B)
2CHECK MAXIFUSE BOX CONNECTIONSAll OKProblems metOperation

Check, in order:

  • condition of two maxifuse boxes
  • correct fixing and connection to battery of maxifuse boxes
Continue to Step 3 Connections not correct Restore the connections of the maxifuse boxes to the battery ( See   E1010  SUPPLY ).

3CHECK IGNITION SWITCH CIRCUITAll OKProblems metOperation
Check that the correct supply is reaching the ignition switch. In particular, check the condition of the 'IGN' maxifuse Continue to Step 4 Connections not correct Restore connections between battery and ignition switch ( See   E5010  STARTING AND RECHARING ).
